Day 1: You meet your driver guide in Kigali international airport waiting for you up on arrival. The guide will welcome you and give a briefing of the 2 days safari in general before you leave the airport. You will be transferred to Ruhengeri where Volcanoes national park is situated. It is about 117km taking a drive time of about 2h 22min. This is the best time to sight the beautiful rolling slopes of the land of a thousand hills. In the evening you will check in to your accommodation facility for relaxation and dinner at the hill slopes.
When you are within Kigali and doing gorilla trekking on day 1, your driver guide picks you up from the hotel as early as 5:00am then transfer to Volcanoes national park for gorilla trekking. After the trek, you rest and have an overnight at an accommodation facility near Volcanoes national park.
Day 2: Take early morning breakfast then transfer to the park headquarters for briefing by 8:00am before the trek. You are allocated a specific gorilla family to trek and you embark on the trek with the ranger guide. The time spent during the trek isn’t predictable since the gorillas are always on a move. Your guide will wait for you to complete your memorable gorilla safari in Rwanda activity and he transfers you back to Kigali.
On the second day, you can visit Dian Fossey center and see her great work. It was because of her work that mountain gorillas got international attention and conservation was given consideration. Her tomb lies in Karisoke where the center is located with a lot of information about gorillas. This visit lasts about 4 hours.
